Kenny Wallace reacts to Jeff Gordon working with Tom Cruise on possible ‘Days of Thunder’ sequel

Kenny Wallace understands why Jeff Gordon has spoken to Tom Cruise about working on a Days of Thunder sequel. The former NASCAR driver went to X/Twitter to react to the news of Gordon and Cruise potentially working on a new NASCAR film.
“We always have to battle Formula One,” Kenny Wallace said. “Formula One has got a movie. …They found Brad Pitt, and he made a good Formula One movie. I feel like right now, we’re in the business of whatever Formula One does we need to do. Formula One goes global, we need to be global. Formula One’s got new automakers, we need to have new automakers.”
After the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Jeff Gordon spoke to reporters about talking to Tom Cruise about a Days of Thunder sequel. “I’ve absolutely talked to Tom about (a sequel) because I want him to do the project, and we want to be a part of it if it were to happen,” Gordon said.
Tom Cruise wants to make a ‘Days of Thunder’ sequel
“(Cruise) seems to like to tease it, so I don’t know. We’ll see what happens. If that doesn’t happen, I feel pretty confident there’s a project out there that will get NASCAR back on the big screen, if not just a really cool docuseries or something beyond even what we’re already seeing right now.”

In November, The Hollywood Reporter shared that Cruise spoke to Paramount about a new Days of Thunder film. The first movie was released in June 1990 and became a hit at the box office, making $157.9 million worldwide. Cruise stars as Cole Trickle, a young NASCAR driver looking to make a name for himself. The film also stars Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Nicole Kidman, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly and Cary Elwes.
Brad Pitt stars in the upcoming racing film F1. The synopsis states that Pitt is “a former driver who returns to Formula One, alongside Damson Idris as his teammate at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid, the feature has been shot during actual Grand Prix weekends as the team competes against the titans of the sport. The star-studded cast also includes Academy Award nominee Kerry Condon, Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe Award nominee Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo.”
