Kenyon Green injury: Texans guard exits game, undergoes X-rays vs. Jets

In the Houston Texans’ showdown against the New York Jets on Thursday, Texans offensive lineman Kenyon Green left the game in the second quarter with an apparent shoulder injury. After briefly entering the injury tent, Green went back to the locker room to receive an X-ray.
Green has had a subpar season and was temporarily benched in the Texans’ win over the Colts last week after allowing seven pressures, one sack, two quarterback hits and posting a season-low 21.9 pass-blocking grade.
However, after backup offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson suffered a concussion, the Texans were forced to place Green back into the game. Evidently, his second-wind performance was enough for the Texans’ coaching staff to keep Green in the starting lineup this week.
Kendrick Green replaced Kenyon Green after he suffered the injury on Thursday evening. This isn’t the first time Kenyon Green has encountered a shoulder injury. He missed all of last season due to a torn labrum.

Entering Thursday evening, Green had allowed a league-high 33 pressures among all offensive guards. Nonetheless, Texans head coach Demeco Ryans hasn’t lost faith in Kenyon Green.
“Kenyon has done fine,” Ryans said Tuesday. “Like I said, he had some bad plays. A lot of guys had some bad plays, and everybody is asking about Kenyon and nobody feels worse about this than Kenyon. He knows he has to play better, he will play better and let’s go to work. That is what it is about. It is not about everybody trying to figure out if Kenyon is out. When Kenyon is ready, he will be ready to roll and we won six games with Kenyon and we have to keep going.”
“For me, I go back and I go to the film. You go to the film and you show players what they have done well and the good reps that they have had and just get back to doing that. Kenyon has had a lot of good reps for us, and I expect him to have some good reps for us this Thursday.”
