There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman this offseason. Coleman has garnered media attention for his personality and energy during offseason press conferences. However, he is finally getting an opportunity to showcase what he can do at the Bills training camp, where he went on the field with star quarterback Josh Allen. And the rookie is not disappointing.

On Wednesday, Coleman put together an impressive showing and finished the day with arguably the catch of the day, according to NFL insider Dov Kleiman. You can check out the former Florida State and Michigan State star receivers’ toe-dragging touchdown catch in the video below.

Kleiman also tacked on another impressive pitch and catch by the rookie wide receiver and superstar quarterback for good measure.

More on the budding Allen Coleman connection

Coleman received plenty of praise from Allen following the Bills OTAs. Allen was quite complimentary of his rookie wide receiver after seven-on-seven drills, saying he is ‘What we needed in our offense.’

“I think his play style (is) what we needed in our offense,” Allen said. “Talking with our offensive coordinator (Joe Brady), our quarterbacks coach (Ronald Curry), (general manager) Brandon Beane, and, obviously, coach (Sean) McDermott, a guy that’s a big-bodied guy and can go win one a back-shoulder fade and not afraid to be a physical wide receiver.”

Coming in at six-foot-four and weighing 215 lbs, Coleman is a big body target that is likely to play a significant role in the Bills red zone offense. The Bills drafted the former Seminole with the No. 33 overall pick (second round, first pick) in the 2024 NFL Draft. Although he did not hear his name called in the first round, Coleman is still part of a historic NFL draft in which all seven wide receivers were selected in the first round.

Coleman has the size of your prototypical possession wide receiver but can also be utilized all over the field. Granted, his 40-yard dash time was not the stuff legends are made of; for Florida State in 2023, he definitely showed off his ability to beat NFL-caliber cornerbacks consistently. If the rookie can put it all together quickly, he might be just what Buffalo needs to get over the hump and punch their ticket to the Super Bowl.
