Keon Coleman, Xavier Worthy already drawing rave reviews from Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs
The 2024 NFL Draft featured a handful of wide receivers that many believe could become instant-impact performers in the league this season. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, like Keon Coleman and Xavier Worthy are two that have shown out for their respective organizations early on.
Worthy, a former Texas standout that broke the 40-yard dash record at the NFL Combine in February, clocking in at a blazing 4.21 seconds, was selected in the first round by the Chiefs as the fifth wide receiver off the board.
“I’m told that he’s off to a great start with Kansas City,” Fowler said on SportsCenter on Sunday morning. “The people I’ve talked to that are in the building saying that he’s soaking up the playbook. Really good football character so far, so much more than just the speed guy. They tried to recruit for agent Zay Jones, he went to Arizona instead. So the fact that he’s off to a good start helps them on the depth front at wide receiver.”
Worthy made his debut in rookie minicamp this past week where he has seen work out wide and on special teams. His speed makes him a threat as a returner and is an easy way to put the ball in his hands. After all, he was a 1,000-yard receiver for the Longhorns last season and has a knack for finding the end zone with 26 career touchdowns.
For Coleman, he’ll also play for a Pro Bowl quarterback in Josh Allen after becoming the first pick off the board in the second round by the Buffalo Bills. Just like Worthy, he’s a prover touchdown scorer with 11 this past season at Florida State, and is already impressing those inside the Bills organization.

“Huge personality as we’ve seen,” Fowler said of Coleman. “A lot of scouts had him as a late first-round potential type player. Really talented, I’m told that the Bills don’t care that he ran a 4.6 [40-yard dash]. That’s considered slow, but this is a major athlete.
“I even saw the other day some of his basketball high school highlights — crazy athletes they believe his contested catch ability, his size, Josh Allen could just kind of toss it 30-40 yards downfield. He can muscle people, cornerbacks, and get those extra yards. So they believe that they got something here.”
It wouldn’t be a surprise if both Worthy and Coleman were featured in regular roles for the Chiefs and Bills, respectively, throughout the 2024 season. With each team’s training camps coming up soon, not to mention preseason opportunities in August, there is more than enough time for them to become accustomed to the speed of the NFL and fill into the roles their teams need them in before the start of the regular season.
