When Kevin Harvick took his son Keelan to see the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, I’m sure he didn’t see himself and his son going viral. But now that they have, the NASCAR legend is leaning into it, and even giving the NFL a bit of a hard time.

Keelan was spotted doing a handshake with Sam Franklin Jr. of the Panthers on Sunday. His dad stood in the back of the shot and smiled. But the NFL social media account just referred to Keelan as a “young fan” with no mention of his Cup Series champion father.

To make matters worse, the game was on FOX. Kevin Harvick is a FOX Sports employee now that he is retired from racing. It was admittedly, a funny moment.

However, Harvick couldn’t help but take a small jab at the NFL for their mistake. Hanging with the Starkey Hearing and Sound Gear folks, the father-son duo was at another game. This time, the Minnesota Vikings, and right at the endzone.

“Great experience last night [at the NFL] game with this young fan!” Harvick posted along with a nice photo.

Before too long, Keelan will be the big name that everyone is talking about. Kevin Harvick will be “Keelan’s dad” to the young generation. The rest of us will protest and talk about all of his wins and his championship and Daytona 500 win, and all he did in the car. But time marches on.

Keelan is starting to race in late models. At such a young age he is already driving full-sized race cars. It is something to behold. With his dad behind him and guiding him along the way, I suspect Keelan is on the fast track to NASCAR.

Kevin Harvick set for year two in the booth

Right now, Kevin Harvick is taking in the offseason. He is going to have a fun 2025 lined up. First, he gets back in the FOX booth for the NASCAR season. That all begins with the Daytona 500.

Last season Harvick made his Cup Series booth debut. He had experience calling Xfinity Series races during his driving career. But he was able to take those talents to the big time after hanging up his helmet in 2023.

On top of his broadcasting job, Harvick will have racing duties. He is going to be racing the Pro and Limited Late Model cars with his son Keelan. The two Harvicks will actually compete against each other multiple times in 2025.

It seems like Kevin Harvick has life figured out. He works 14 races a season for FOX in the booth. Then he gets to do whatever he wants with his family the rest of the time. Can’t ask for much more than that.
