Coming into Turn 1 during qualifying, Kevin Harvick took a big hit into the wall. This Chicago Street Race Course is proving tough for some. Not long after Chase Elliott took his big hit in Turn 8, Harvick found the inside wall coming around the track and that sent him off-kilter and into the outside wall on the turn. These NASCAR drivers are being tested to their limits.

The Closer was not having a great qualifying session. However, he didn’t want to wreck the No. 4 Ford Mustang in the process. Kevin Harvick just came in too tight on the turn and paid the price. While some drivers really got the hang of it, others have not done so well on the streets of Chicago.

So, Harvick’s Stewart-Haas Racing team is going to have to try and fix this car. Then again, he might have to go to a backup. His front bumper went right into the wall. It could have been worse, but it is pretty bad as it is.

Kevin Harvick was in perhaps the most stacked round of qualifying. With the top-two drivers from practice in this round, Denny Hamlin and Shane van Gisbergen, it was going to be a tough battle to get to the final round.

There are a lot of fast Toyotas in this race. However, Joey Logano is trying his best to represent for the Fords. Not to mention Jenson Button is running well for Rick Ware Racing in the No. 15.

Kevin Harvick wrecks out of qualifying

This second round of qualifying was tough all around. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was a DNS because of his wreck during practice. Then you had both Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick wreck out of the session at different times.

There were some surprises in the qualifying sessions. Christopher Bell and Michael McDowell have caught a lot of people’s attention. Even Logano is a bit of a surprise with how fast he is so far. With every lap, most of these drivers are getting more comfortable and understanding the track more.

While we will have to wait until Sunday to see them race, the Cup Series has really put on a great show so far today. We will see the Xfinity Series take the track for The Loop 121 later today. However, the Cup field looks to have the potential to be a truly electric race.

Kevin Harvick had a rough end to his Saturday. Hopefully, he isn’t just on a tourist trip to Chicago and can make the most of his chances tomorrow. It will be a tough battle for a good finish on Sunday.
