Kevin Harvick: 'I'm starting to feel sorry for Kyle Busch' after Ross Chastain incident

Kyle Busch just can’t catch a break.
Still winless on the season, Busch has work to do to secure his spot in the Cup Series playoffs, but a new on-track incident seemingly every week continues to thwart any momentum he’s looking to build. Last week at Gateway, it was a dust-up with Kyle Larson which ended his day early. This past Sunday at Sonoma, Busch was poised to collect a top-five or top-10 finish until Ross Chastain dumped him on the final lap.
At this point, Kevin Harvick is starting to “feel sorry” for Busch, he said on his “Happy Hour” podcast alongside Kaitlyn Vincie and Mamba Smith.
“Now I’m to the point where I’m starting to feel sorry for Kyle Busch because of everything that is happening,” Busch said. “He wrecked last week with Kyle Larson at St. Louis, went to Indy for the tire test and crashed, heard some rumblings that he crashed his rental car. And we go there [Sonoma], he ran off the track in practice, then he ran off the track at the beginning of the race, and then gathers it all up, he’s driving along, gonna have a good day, finally gonna get over this and wham. Ross Chastain wipes him out. Overshoots Turn 4 and wipes him out.
“He still finished the race, but he was in contention to have another top-five and kind of stop the bleeding but man, that wound is still open.”

Kyle Busch denied top-10 finish at Sonoma despite solid run
Busch went from tallying just his sixth top-10 of the season to finishing P12 at Sonoma. He would later run out of gas before crossing the start/finish line. Busch spoke about the incident after the race and safe to say, frustration is starting to set in.
“A couple of guys there at the end of the race had better tires than we did but we were going to have a good day,” Busch said. “Unfortunately, one of those guys got into us on the last lap and ruined our day. It’s frustrating to not get the finish that we deserved.”
