The business portfolio of Kevin Harvick continues to grow. He is now involved in the ownership group of the Charlotte Checkers. How did the NASCAR champion get involved with Charlotte’s AHL team?

Today the Charlotte Checkers announced that Zawyer Sports and Entertainment has bought a controlling interest in the hockey organization. Michael Kahn, the CEO and majority owner of the team since 2006, is now the largest minority owner of the team.

Kevin Harvick is a partner in Zawyer Sports and Entertainment. Andy Kaufmann is CEO of Zawyer, who has partners like Harvick, Tim Tebow, Myles Jack, and JJ Jansen, as well as NASCAR analyst Regan Smith.

Now that ownership group has a controlling interest in the Charlotte Checkers. Harvick is pumped to get involved in a team that is so close to home.

“Excited to join this ownership group!” Harvick wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Kevin Harvick has a lot going on outside of driving a car. He is a part-owner in the CARS Tour, all of the teams that Zawyer owns and helps operate, he has his own sports management group with NASCAR drivers, UFC fighters, and other athletes signed.

There is a lot going on around Harvick. He isn’t just the guy calling races and talking on a podcast. When he isn’t doing all of that stuff, there are moves being made like this. Also, it is very cool for the Checkers to get this investment from a group like this.

Being able to say your ownership group includes Kevin Harvick and Tim Tebow is cool. The best part, nothing is really changing.

Kevin Harvick group not changing much at Checkers

If you are a Charlotte Checkers fan or a Florida Panthers fan, don’t worry. There is nothing changing with that affiliation. So, don’t worry too much about that. They team will also still operate and play out of Bojangles Coliseum.

“The Florida Panthers partnership with the Charlotte Checkers is pivotal in the development and compete level of our Panthers Pipeline and roster,” said Florida Panthers Senior Vice President, Hockey Operations Paul Krepelka. “We are grateful to Michael Kahn for his time at the helm of our affiliate and can’t wait to welcome Zawyer Sports to Charlotte. Andy Kaufmann and his team have a proven track record that will continue to elevate this great franchise and provide opportunities for our athletes and staff.”

Kevin Harvick continues to add more to his resume. It is impressive what he has been able to parlay his driving career into at this point. He hasn’t even been retired for a full year and there is already a lot going on with Happy.

The Closer and his investment group made the close here. Charlotte Checkers, you have new owners.
