Kevin Harvick looking forward to final start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
With the postponed Crayon 301 on Monday, Kevin Harvick will close the final chapter on that part of his NASCAR career. A track that he has dominated in recent years, Harvick could make history this weekend. Ahead of the race, he seems to be looking forward to giving the Magic Mile one last go.
Without a win this year, but with plenty of points, Kevin Harvick might break through in New Hampshire. For whatever reason, the Fords are strong on this track. Harvick was unable to make the final qualifying round but will start P13 with plenty of time to race for a top-5 or a win.
Harvick knows his history here. He likes this track, and he knows that there will be plenty of fans there cheering, and saying farewell, to the driver of the No. 4 Mustang.
“It’s just been a good place for us to race throughout the years,” said Harvick, via Holly Cain, NASCAR Wire Service. “I grew up on a lot of the short tracks and flat short tracks out West and we spent a lot of time at RCR [Richard Childress Racing] at a lot of the flat tracks – and always ran good. That carried over to Stewart-Haas Racing and just wound up being one of our really good spots.
“I feel like four wins should be 10, but I feel like that at a lot of places. So, I guess that’s just the racer’s mentality on how you think about things. It’s been a great place to race and I’ve seen it go through some different transitions as far as the layout of the track, but it’s been fun to come here and we have a great following up here.”

Kevin Harvick given special gift at NHMS
Although the rain ruined Sunday’s festivities, Kevin Harvick wasn’t left without anything this weekend. He was honored on Saturday with a special gift from New Hampshire Motor Speedway. A musket! Much like trophies that the track has given away in other races, this was a replica. They even got a special plaque for the end of it.
On the butt of the gun, a metal plate stated Kevin Harvick has four wins at NHMS and was the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion. When it comes to awards and honors, this is one of the coolest I’ve seen. So, he won’t leave Loudon empty-handed, at least.
With his four wins at the track, Harvick is tied with Jeff Burton for most wins. The goal is to make the playoffs. Right now, he’s pretty safe in regard to points. He is the best non-winner in the field, so to speak.
With one last start at the track, does Kevin Harvick have a magical performance at the Magic Mile? It will have to happen on a Monday no less! Noon tomorrow on USA. Be there.
