Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano have long been rivals on the NASCAR race track. However, they put the past behind them Saturday to come together for a touching moment that will have an impact far beyond what they have accomplished as drivers.

Using t-shirt sales from his merch store, Harvick donated $12,000 to the Joey Logano Foundation, which focuses on offering second chances to children in times of crisis. The shirts sold read “I wear the fire suit in this family,” a callback to a 2010 jab from Logano to Harvick and his wife, DeLana, after the two drivers wrecked at Pocono.

Logano said then that DeLana “wears the fire suit in the family,” sparking a feud between the two. When Harvick presented the check to Logano on Saturday, however, both he and his wife Brittany, along with their children, donned the shirts from Harick’s store.

Harvick and Logano have made light of the situation over the past 13 years, with Logano’s wife, Brittany, even wearing a fire suit of her own on pit road at Darlington Raceway in 2019. Earlier this week, Stewart-Haas Racing released a video in which Harvick’s five-year-old daughter, Piper, made reference to the famous diss from Logano.

Athough the feud might have been real at some point, the two drivers look to have gotten to a point where they can laugh at it. Harvick is set to retire after this season, he is appearing in his final race at Pocono this weekend.

That being the case, it only made sense to look back at one of the bigger moments of his career.

“As we went down the list of races, the ‘I wear the fire suit’ moment obviously came up,” he said. “I talked to Joey beforehand and said, ‘do you wanna play along?’ He’s always game for stuff like that. We just felt like it would be the right thing to do after all these years to make a donation to his foundation. If there’s something going on, he’s gonna call me and I’m gonna call him. We’ll race each other hard but I think, as you look at that, it was just a good moment to look back on something that we all laugh at and, as we go forward, a good opportunity to donate to his foundation.”

Similarly, Logano is glad the pair can come together for the greater good and put the moment to rest. He admitted he might have gone a little too far with his comments all those years ago, but it’s encouraging to see it all worked out in the end.

“Yeah, Kevin wrecked me that day, and I was mad about it,” he said. “I probably shouldn’t have brought his wife into the middle of it or made it that personal, but the fact that they made a joke out of it and Kevin and I get along really well now, and to see his kids all involved, they just came over to our bus and gave us a donation to our foundation, the Joey Logano Foundation, and he gave the kids all the ‘I wear the fire suit in the family’ T-shirts and all.

“So it’s become a fun joke between us now. I still regret saying it, but at least some good things came out of it. They raised a bunch of money for their foundation, and they paid it forward to us, so that’s pretty special. That’s cool.”

Sunday’s HighPoint.com 400 is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET. Harvick is scheduled to start fourth in the No. 4 Mustang, with Logano sixth in the No. 22 Team Penske Ford.
