Kevin Harvick made it clear during Tuesday’s “Happy Hour” podcast: He does not have any plans on the weekend of the 2025 Indy 500, scheduled to take place on May 25.

Could Harvick, the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion be lining up to make his IndyCar debut? At 48 years old it would appear highly unlikely, although crazier things have happened. But instead of getting behind the wheel of an IndyCar, Harvick simply could be angling to be part of the broadcast team.

“When you look at the Indy 500 and everything that comes with the Indy 500, that is an experience from the open wheel side of that, that hopefully I get to experience this year,” Harvick said. “I don’t have anything to do that weekend, so I’d love to experience what heaven might be like.”

FOX will broadcast the 2025 Indy 500 as part of the racing series’ new media rights deal which kicks in next season. Harvick, of course, is a member of the Cup Series three-man booth on FOX, joining the network following his retirement from NASCAR last season.

Jimmie Johnson notably participated in the 2024 event on NBC, providing commentary during the prerace show. Could Harvick play a similar role in 2025? Perhaps time will tell but whatever the case, the 109th Running of the Indy 500 will be momentous for both IndyCar and FOX.

“Adding the iconic Indianapolis 500 and delivering the entire NTT IndyCar Series to the FOX Sports roster fits perfectly within our model of teaming with sports’ largest events and best-in-class brands,” FOX Sports CEO and Executive Producer Eric Shanks said in June. “We’re honored to be the new broadcast home to “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” an incredibly special event to everyone at FOX Sports.”
