Kevin Harvick reacts to news of potential 'Days of Thunder' sequel
A sequel to the hit racing movie Days of Thunder could happen, and NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick has some thoughts on it. On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick was asked about his reaction to another Days of Thunder film with Tom Cruise.
“I think of Days of Thunder 2 would be good,” Harvick said. While Harvick likes the idea of a potential Days of Thunder sequel, there’s another racing film he would love to see get another chapter.
“I think we should have Ricky Bobby or Will Ferrell and Talladega Nights,” Harvick said. “I know where we can film it.”
The reason Harvick said he knows where a potential Talladega Nights sequel can be filmed is he bought Ricky Bobby’s mansion from the movie last year. The home is located in North Carolina and includes six bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
“We’re going to film it in a modernized Ricky Bobby home,” Kevin Harvick said. And when asked if he would let cast and crew return to the house, Harvick said, “You know, there’s a price for everything.”
What to know about the potential return of ‘Days of Thunder’

“He’s talking [to Paramount] about Top Gun and Days of Thunder,” a studio insider told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s going to be what comes together first in terms of a script. It depends on the idea and, ultimately, the script.”
The source added: “I don’t think a [Days of Thunder sequel] is a terrible idea. You might have said that revisiting Top Gun was a terrible idea. I wouldn’t discount it.”
Days of Thunder tells the story of a young race car driver named Cole Trickle (Cruise) working his way up the NASCAR Cup Series. The film also includes Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Nicole Kidman, Michael Rookie, Cary Elwes and, John C. Reilly who is also in Talladega Nights.
Days of Thunder was a big hit for Paramount, earning nearly $160 million at the box office. It also earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Sound.
