Kevin Harvick rips NASCAR for putting Cup Series practice, qualifying on NBC Sports App

If you were confused while finding practice and qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series today, then Kevin Harvick knows how you feel. Coming back from two weeks off, fans had to scour the NBC Sports App to find the session.
NASCAR gave the teams 45 minutes today to practice. This is due to the fact that teams will be able to utilize the “Option” tires this weekend at Richmond. A softer compound meant to create a little more speed in the short run.
Fans would know all about it if they were able to tune into practice. Kevin Harvick says that it took him 20 minutes to find the practice session on the NBC Sports App.
“Two weeks off and it took me 20 minutes to find qualifying. Don’t blame the drivers when no one’s watching because it’s buried on an app,” Harvick posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Retired Kevin Harvick is the best Kevin Harvick. The Closer does not mind speaking out and letting his feelings be known. He really didn’t mind doing it when he was driving, either.
Harvick has a point, too. This is the NASCAR Cup Series. The highest form of motorsports in North America. Coming off of a two-week break, there should be a celebration. Sticking the 45-minute practice and qualifying session onto an app is inexcusable.
When you were looking for the qualifying session, did you have trouble? Since we are going to see NASCAR on streaming next year, is this going to be more common?

Kevin Harvick calls out NASCAR
This is the perfect time to promote the sport. NASCAR is using the “Option” and “Prime” tires this week at Richmond. They have only tried this in the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro.
You have a new tire that hasn’t been used in a points-paying race before. You also are coming off the break. It should be NASCAR, NASCAR, NASCAR. Then again, it tells you where the priorities of NBC are.
I know, the Olympics are more important in this moment. They just are. However, there is a better way to go about this. Peacock is there, USA Network, etc. Let’s try to take the sport as seriously as it deserves to be taken.
Kevin Harvick is not happy with today’s coverage. Let’s hope this isn’t a consistent issue as the playoffs approach.
