Kevin Harvick, Rodney Childers working as Keelan Harvick's late model crew
Imagine having a NASCAR Cup Series champion driver AND crew chief working for you? Well, Keelan Harvick has Kevin Harvick and Rodney Childers. The kid is living the dream as he begins his late model racing career.
Kevin Harvick has his son Keelan racing late models already. When it comes to stock car racing, you see kids starting younger and younger. And when your dad is The Closer, why wouldn’t you be racing full-sized cars at age 11?
Not only is Kevin helping, Rodney Childers is looking over things as well. I have a feeling Keelan will have exactly what he needs from his race car when he hits the track.
It looks like they were working on a couple of cars on Wednesday afternoon at Florence Motor Speedway. Kevin Harvick is racing in Super and Pro Late Model races in the CARS Tour next year. I’m sure we will see him and Keelan racing over the winter.
And don’t forget about Landen Lewis. Lewis is a talented kid, endorsed by Ron Hornaday Jr., and is coming up through the ranks with Harvick’s management company behind him. The young racer was also with the group at Florence.
The Hunt Brothers Pizza/RealTree paint scheme is one of my favorites. Of course, Harvick runs with Busch Light as a sponsor still. There is a lot of fun stuff going on with Harvick and these late model cars.

Kevin Harvick entering new phase in life, career
Now, NASCAR fans know we are going to get Kevin Harvick back for the first 14 races of the 2025 season. Harvick returns to the FOX booth as an announcer and analyst. The retired Cup Series driver brings a lot of knowledge to the production.
However, this is a new time in Harvick’s life. His son is growing up, moving through the ranks of stock car racing at a fast pace. Even his daughter Piper is racing go-karts and learning the basics herself.
Then there are all of the races that Harvick wants to do. As a co-owner of the CARS Tour, Harvick has plenty of opportunities to race when he isn’t calling Cup Series races on Sundays. Better yet, he can do it with his son Keelan and his old friend and crew chief, Rodney Childers.
Kevin Harvick has entered a new stage in his life and career. But it sure does suit him well. Those late model cars are going to be trimmed up and fast as hell.
