Kevin Harvick fully supports NASCAR rotating the championship track if the organization decides to do it. On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick believes tracks like Homestead and Phoenix should be in the mix to host the championship race.

“Homestead has put on great races for years. I think it’s the thing of people wanting to see something different, and then it goes away for a while and people want to see it come back,” Harvick said. “I think that’s the power of possibly rotating this race around. I’ve heard some people talk, ‘Well, we rotated the All-Star race around.’ The All-Star race is not the same as a full-length race.

“We’re talking great markets — Vegas, Homestead, Phoenix — to be able to rotate these races around. We’ve seen the high grove work great in Vegas and things have great finishes there. We’ve seen great finishes at Phoenix. I think we can have great finishes at any of the racetracks. We’ve had great racing on all different styles of racetracks. I think Homestead, that Miami market, warm weather, it just promotes a great place to end the season. Phoenix, the same way. There’s definitely something to that final race rotation and keeping it mixed up.”

Phoenix will host this year’s championship race and it has been the championship track for NASCAR since 2020. Before the 2020 season, Homestead was the final Cup race of the season from 2002 to 2019.

Last week, Harvick said the NASCAR should rotate the championship tracks. “I hope at some point we start cycling these championship races of Phoenix to Homestead, even if it’s just those two racetracks,” he said on last week’s episode of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour. “What a great cycle of events that we could go back and forth on to have two championship tracks. I really hope that we get back to that because I think that Homestead is such a unique place.”

Harvick also said Las Vegas should be in the mix. “If you had three, do you need more than three in that rotation? If you had Las Vegas, Phoenix, Homestead that rotated that championship race, every three years you went to those locations,” Harvick explained. “You have to take into account the weather in November, so there’s just not many places that you can go.”
