Kirk Cousins may not be ready to return to the field yet, but he’s always prepared to bust a move. During “The 13th Annual NFL Honors” on Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback and New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan walked on the stage to present the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Before the pair could get a word out, music started to blare over the speakers while dancers flooded the stage. At first, the duo attempted to act confused. However, in moments, Cousins and Jordan were leading the performance with a few sweet moves.

Cousins’ groovy moves were especially unexpected. In Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers, Cousins suffered a torn Achilles tendon during the fourth quarter. In eight games, Cousins amassed 2,331 passing yards and 18 touchdowns while only throwing five interceptions.

In January, Cousins provided an update on his recovery.

“I haven’t been injured this severely in a long time. This was my first ever surgery of my life, so there was a lot that was unknown and new, but it’s been a positive process,” Cousins told CBS Sports. “We are two and a half months in since surgery, and I kind of kept waiting for the setback or the frustration with the rehab, but it’s been a positive experience.

“We got probably another three or four months to go, whatever it may be. But I’m excited [about] getting out the other side and playing next season. I’ll probably appreciate playing more than I ever have before.”

ESPN predicts Kirk Cousins’ home next season

While Cousins is excited to be back, there’s speculation he may not be with the Minnesota Vikings next season. Despite outside noise, ESPN believes Cousins will extend his stay with Minnesota into the 2024 campaign.

ESPN wrote of Cousins: “He has repeatedly said he wants to end his career in Minnesota, and as he departed the locker room for the offseason, Cousins left the clear impression that he hoped the Vikings’ offer would reflect a similar wish.

“It’s not about the dollars,” Cousins told reporters “but it is about what the dollars represent.”

Kevin Seifert, who covers the Vikings for ESPN, predicts that Minnesota will offer Cousins a two-year extension. “That gives the Vikings two years — until Cousins is 38 years old — to draft and develop his successor,” Seifert predicted.

Cousins has spent six seasons with the Vikings. He is entering his 13th year in the NFL.
