K'Lavon Chaisson expected to be significantly improved in fourth season
K’Lavon Chaisson‘s breakout season could be on the horizon for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The former LSU Tigers star came into the NFL with a ton of hype, joining Jacksonville via the No. 20 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, success has been far from guaranteed for Chaisson, as he hasn’t exactly made good on his first round billing thus far.
However, ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, who covers the Jaguars for the worldwide leader, is reporting that Chaisson is catching the eyes of his coaching at OTAs, and the belief is a breakout is on the way.
“With edge rusher Josh Allen skipping OTAs, Chaisson got a lot more work. The coaching staff noticed a difference in the 2020 first-round pick,” wrote DiRocco. “Assistants Brentson Buckner (defensive line) and Bill Shuey (outside linebackers) said they’re expecting Chaisson to be one of the most improved players on the team.
“‘I look forward to him having a big year this year,’ Buckner said. Chaisson has three sacks and seven tackles for loss in 40 career games.”
Evidently, where Allen is looking for a new contract and decided to skip OTAs, the door has been opened for Chaisson to step through and improve his game. The former Tigers star will take it, and he’s looking to keep the ball and run with it.

Last season, Chaisson dealt with a myriad of injuries that would keep him off the field for most of the season. It’s tough to evolve your game when you can’t play, so it makes sense as to why Chaisson was lost.
However, perhaps the injury will turn into a positive for the former LSU star, as it’s given him a new perspective and helped him to reassess where he was going wrong at the NFL level thus far. The fruits of his labor are already showing, he’ll just need to put it all together on game days.
With the AFC South in flux, the Jaguars are poised to take over the division for the foreseeable future. If Chaisson can elevate his game and keep their opponent’s quarterbacks running for their lives, it’ll certainly help Jacksonville achieve their goal.
Nevertheless, K’Lavon Chaisson is supremely talented, that much is more than well known. If he can put it all together for the Jaguars in 2023, we could be looking at the birth of a superstar.
