Kliff Kingsbury reveals Commanders scored touchdown on play named 'Taylor Swift'
Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury used Taylor Swift to help the team beat the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday. While speaking to reporters on Thursday, Kingsbury revealed the Commanders scored one of their touchdowns in the Week 7 game on a play called “Taylor Swift.”
The play was a touchdown pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota to tight end Ben Sinnott. “His first catch was a touchdown, and the play was called ‘Taylor Swift,’ so you can’t really beat that to start your NFL scoring career,” Kingsbury said, per Yahoo Sports. “He was stoked about it.”
Swift is currently dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and has attended multiple games this year and in 2023. Kingsbury said the play was named by the Commanders tight ends and that he thinks that Sinnott “must like Taylor Swift on a deeper level.”
“This was new this year,” Kliff Kingsbury said. “We probably carried it three weeks and just finally got to calling it.”

Taylor Swift’s impact on the NFL is on another level
Sinnott was selected by the Commanders in the second round of this year’s draft after playing college football at Kansas State. The touchdown he scored on Sunday was the first of his career and second reception of the season.
It’s clear that Swift has made a huge impact on the NFL. In February, the Apex Marketing group revealed that Swift added $331 million in value to the league since she and Kelce began dating last year.
“I have cousins who couldn’t name the team in their own city, and now they can name off half the starting quarterbacks in the NFL,” The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach told CBS at the time. “They’re not just interested. They’ve gone down the rabbit holes too because that’s part of being a Taylor Swift fan is that you’re going to become obsessed with it. So, I think that they’ve transferred that into football.”
