The last few months have not been great for Kurt Busch. However, the NASCAR icon is ready to move on from his recent troubles. Busch was arrested for DWI a few months ago and was recently sentenced as a result.

Kurt Busch pled guilty to DWI. His sentence includes community service and forfeiture of his driver’s license. The driver is also on a 60-day suspended sentence for the next 12 months, including unsupervised probation.

Today, Busch released a video and short message to his fans. He is ready to move on from his transgressions. Time to get back to having fun and being responsible.

“I know things have been quiet on my social lately,” Busch wrote on X/Twitter. “The last 90 days was [sic] my priority and a reflection period, working on myself.

“I appreciate all the love & care you’ve shown, let’s get back to having fun.”

“What’s going on race fans, I know it’s been a while but thank you so much for the support over the years and even this year with everything going on,” Kurt Busch said in the video. “It’s great to roll down memory lane with everyone’s cards, photos, the letters you guys write. So, thank you. Any time I take my hat off at driver intros, it’s to say ‘Thank you race fans.'”

From his championship in 2004 to his days at Haas and even his brief career at 23XI Racing – Busch has been a fan-favorite for decades at this point. He is one-half of the most successful brother duo in NASCAR history along with Kyle Busch. Future Hall of Famer, too.

Kurt Busch moving on from DWI

There are times when athletes’ and celebrities’ personal lives make it into the news. For NASCAR drivers, it isn’t often. They can be some of the most media-adverse and drama-adverse athletes in the country. Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. are great examples.

However, moments like a DWI, especially for a professional driver, break through. It is unfortunate, but there is one of two ways to approach it. I think Kurt Busch is doing a great job of reconciling his mistakes and moving on with his life in a positive way.

Busch still has a role at 23XI Racing. He was the first driver to get a win in a Jordan Brand paint scheme. There is a lot that Busch can still contribute to the sport even if he isn’t behind the wheel.

Kurt Busch is doing his best to get on with life. Hopefully he continues to enjoy his post-driving career responsibly.
