Kyle Busch announces first ever head-to-head race against son Brexton

Almost immediately after the finish to Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami, Kyle Busch turned heads. It wasn’t for his driving but for the cryptic message he put on social media, teasing an upcoming announcement.
Kyle Busch told everyone the announcement would be made at 18:51 on Monday. That is 6:51 PM for anyone not familiar with the 24-hour clock. Now we know why.
Busch announced that for the first time ever, he will race head-to-head against his 9-year-old son Brexton. The “Battle of the Busch’s” will take place this Wednesday at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina. The race is available to watch on DirtVision.
Kyle Busch teased Monday announcement after Homestead
Busch heavily teased the announcement. Following Sunday’s Straight Talk Wireless at Homestead, Busch went straight to X.

“News at 18:51 on Monday,” Kyle Busch posted.
Brexton has a long way go to catch up to his dad, a two-time Cup Series champion and surefire NASCAR Hall of Famer. He is, however, off to a fantastic start. Brexton scored the biggest win of his career in January, taking the checkered flag in the Junior Sprint A-Main at the 2025 Tulsa Shootout, capturing his first Golden Driller trophy. He started first in the 20-lap race and led the entire way.
Brexton is well on his way, and Busch is excited to be a part of his journey.
“He takes it all in, he sees what I do every Sunday,” Busch said last month. “He sees the interviews and stuff that I do and the upset moments too when I’ve got some frustrating races and stuff, and he gets frustrated too. Just working through all that with him at a younger age will help him into the future.
“… He does a good job, and we obviously work with him. He’s got some very corporate sponsors that are on board with him right now that have helped him along his way and through his journey. Many of those that hopefully we keep on board for the foreseeable future.”
But does he have what it takes to beat his dad? We’ll find out in just two days.
