In a strange wreck under caution, Kyle Busch lost control of his car and hit the wall. Then, he just walked away from it on the track. This has been a disaster of a NASCAR season.

Kyle Busch and the rest of the Cup Series field were getting ready to go back racing. Then it was like a switch flipped in the No. 8 car. Busch lost it and hit the wall. It wasn’t his first incident of the afternoon, either.

This is perhaps the best example of how the year has gone for Rowdy.

It is unclear how things could get any worse for Kyle Busch in 2024. With his comments in the last few weeks, the results this season – is it possible that we see Busch move away from RCR early?

It feels like the relationship there is not going well. Does Busch trust his crew and his team to deliver him fast cars on a weekly basis? I am not totally convinced.

With a result of P35 today in New Hampshire, Busch has an average finish of 26.5 in his last six races. He has finished P35 in three of those six races. It is, almost undeniably, the worst stretch of his Cup Series career.

At this point in his career, Busch is looking to win races. He wants to compete for a championship. This is the end of his prime years and the two-time champ wants to make the most of it.

Right now, in the No. 8 car, that isn’t going to happen. Unless something drastic changes, I am unsure what the answer is for Kyle Busch and his team.

Kyle Busch needs to turn things around sooner rather than later

At this point, is there a solution for this team? Or is it all about salvaging what you can this year and hoping that things change in 2025? Kyle Busch is under contract with RCR at least through 2025. So, he may have to stick things out.

Given how RCR has been heading in the last few years, this is not a huge surprise. Austin Dillon has been lacking in performance. Yes, Tyler Reddick and Busch won three races in 2022 and 2023. But consistency was not RCR’s strong suit, and it still isn’t.

Last season it felt like Busch and RCR were a match made in heaven. This season, he’s admitted that if Hendrick or Joe Gibbs wanted him, he would go. That is hardly being committed to Richard Childress Racing.

Whether Kyle Busch is in the 8 car next year or not, when this relationship does end, it will be because of these performances. Slow car, mechanical failures, and finding new ways to lose every week.
