Kyle Busch bows to the crowd at Nashville after triple overtime restart wreck
Once again, Kyle Busch is going home as a DNF. This is the fourth such result in five races, and things are looking dire for No. 8. This was the last thing he needed this NASCAR season.
Just when it looked like Busch could be in the top-5 or perhaps win a race, he was thrown to the side. Not just once, but twice in overtime. This race got ugly in the end and it took all these drivers had in order to finish the race.
Always a showman, Kyle Busch bowed to the crowd who was cheering for his DNF. It feels like he has gotten to the point where it is tragically hilarious.
This was such an up-and-down day for Kyle Busch and this No. 8 RCR team. They came into the race already riding a rough streak. Three DNFs for P35 in the last four races before Nashville.
He started P27 today, slid through his pit box on the first stop of the day, and struggled mightily. Then, clever pit strategy was able to move the 8 car to the front of the field.
By the end of regulation, Kyle Busch was in a position to finish in the top-5. Adjustments to his car, strong pit strategy, and a little bit of luck on cautions. Then, the luck ran out.

Kyle Busch wrecked twice in overtime
It wasn’t just one wreck, it was two in overtime. Hell, there were five total overtimes to begin with. This race looked like it wasn’t going to end, but eventually, we got to the finish. During what I want to say was the third overtime, Busch was caught up in the first wreck.
Ross Chastain restarted on the front row with Denny Hamlin. Larson rode the back of Hamlin’s bumper, got loose, and sent Chastain into the wall after running up the track and into the 1 car. Busch was caught up in it as a result.
Then, Kyle Larson appeared to run out of fuel and checked up on the ensuing restart. His car would not fire off. Busch ran into the back of the 5 car and then was sent around as cars passed him and the caution came back out.
That would bring us to a Cup Series record fifth overtime. What a mess of a day. Busch gets his fourth DNF in five races. P27.
