Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe made changes to their pit crews in response to the expected penalties NASCAR will hand them. Bob Prockrass of FOX Sports shared the news on X/Twitter, and the teams did this because they anticipated two of their pit crew members would be suspended for two races.

“Kyle Busch team has listed its replacements on its roster for the anticipated two-race suspensions for the wheel coming off at Vegas,” Pockrass wrote. “Rear changer Chris Jackson (who currently does the Matt DiBenedetto car in Xfinity), jack Garrett Crall (does Kris Wright car in Xfinity).”

Pockrass then wrote, “Chase Briscoe team roster shows his replacements are coming from the JGR crew that pits Noah Gragson‘s car. Rear changer Adam Riley (who also does Taylor Gray car in Xfinity) and jackman Nathan McBride move from Gragson car to Briscoe car.”

Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe lost a wheel during the Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Per rule, NASCAR will hand both teams penalties and two-race suspensions to their tire changer and jackman.

Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe have had interesting starts to the 2025 season

It’s been an interesting start to the 2025 season for Busch and Briscoe. Kyle Busch is looking for his first win since the 2023 season but has earned three top-10 finishes in five races this year. Before the 2025 season, Busch spoke to Pockrass about what he needs to do to stay at Richard Childress Racing (RCR).

“I would say you gotta win, right?” Busch said. “Unfortunately, we weren’t able to win last year. So, being able to get back to Victory Lane, being able to build on some consistency. Getting those top-fives, top-tens, getting that number higher than what it was [last] year is definitely, paramount.”

Briscoe suffered a big break after NASCAR handed him a back-breaking penalty earlier in the season. The Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) driver was hit with a 100-point penalty for a modified spoiler used during the Daytona 500. The team appealed the peanlty and won, meaning Briscoe got his 100 points back as well as 10 playoff points.

“Yeah it’s crazy. The amount of relief I felt, honestly just, I felt like a new man the rest of the week,” Briscoe said, via Dustin Long of NBC Sports. “So yeah it’s been nice. Not that our season was over but it kind of felt that way to a certain extent. I mean, we could have still won a race, right, and made the playoffs but you’re going to be at such a deficit the whole season.”
