While Kyle Busch already has one of NASCAR’s top nicknames in “Rowdy,” he gained another during Sunday’s trip to Richmond Raceway.

Busch sprained his wrist in a crash at Indianapolis prior to NASCAR’s break for the Olympics, so he’s now wearing a brace while behind the wheel. However, Busch’s brace was too tight through the first two stages of the race, so he decided to make an adjustment.

As drivers made their way to pit road after the end of the second stage, Busch had a request for his crew: scissors.

USA showed footage from inside Busch’s car of him receiving the scissors, as his crew worked on his car to get him back on the road. In dramatic fashion, Busch wasn’t able to completely cut through his wrapping on his hand during the pit stop, so he continued to work on it as he pulled out from pit road.

Alas, as he was rolling down the track, he was able to finally get a quality cut through, loosening the brace. He freed his wrist, and after going viral for the moment on social media, he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to coin a new nickname: “Rowdy Scissorhands.”

Hey, at least it incorporates “Rowdy” into it. Despite the trouble with his wrist, Busch still came home P12, a much-needed solid afternoon for the No. 8, as he looks to sneak into the playoffs over the next couple of weeks.

Elsewhere on Sunday evening, Kyle Busch’s teammate Austin Dillon was in a bit of hot water following the race. In an overtime restart, Dillon got beat off the line by Joey Logano. It wasn’t over there, though.

The No. 3 came back on the last corner of the last lap and spun Logano out. The 22 went into the wall and Denny Hamlin was caught in the wreck as well, as Dillin captured the win.

It was a shocking twist, as Dillon entered Sunday’s race 32nd in points. He was the third-worst full-time driver in the Cup Series this season, as far as points are concerned. This was the fifth career win for Dillon, his first on a short track.

Additionally, it pushed both Chris Buescher and Ross Chastain out of the playoff picture. Bubba Wallace moved up to the final transfer position, only three points above the cutline.

Moreover, Joey Logano was absolutely incensed after the race. He couldn’t believe that Dillon got away with a move like that. Logano had beaten him off the line at the restart. That final corner was another story entirely.
