This weekend at Talladega there are no aero changes for the Cup Series cars. Kyle Busch is not much of a fan of that. Given how many flips there have been at these high-speed NASCAR tracks lately, you can’t blame him.

NASCAR tested new changes at Michigan to keep the cars on the ground. The blowover flips have not resulted in major injury, yet, but it is not something any driver wants to go through.

Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports talked to Kyle Busch ahead of the race this weekend. It is a bit disappointing that there haven’t been any changes made for this week’s race.

“Yeah, I don’t, I think they tested it at Michigan, and I’m pretty sure greenhouses aren’t that easy to make and are very expensive, probably one of the more expensive body parts these cars have,” Busch said, via Pockrass. “So, you would like to have anything like that as soon as you possibly could get it and have it on the racecar, especially, coming to places like this. So, I would agree with the sentiment that yeah, it’s a little disappointing we don’t have it yet, if it’s a safety feature for us.”

Kyle Busch won at Talladega in the Spring race two years ago. He has not won a race since Gateway in June 2023. Will he be able to break through this week and snap his winless streak?

Kyle Busch starting P2 at Talladega

Good news, Kyle Busch has a fast Chevy. Busch was the fastest Chevy in qualifying and will start P2 as a result. His RCR teammate Austin Dillon is the only other Chevy starting in the top-10 this afternoon. Ford had a bunch of fast cars once again.

The blue ovals are really fast in qualifying at these superspeedways. Whatever it is about the Mustang Dark Horse body, it makes for a bullet in qualifying on these tracks. With how much Busch has struggled to find consistent speed it is nice to know he at least has a quick piece today.

Busch only has one top-10 finish in the last five races. He started out the season very strong and has since faltered for a bit. With how superspeedway racing is in the Cup Series now, there will be plenty of time to ride around and think about how he is going to come away with the win at the end of the 500-mile race.

We didn’t see a “big one” during the Xfinity Series race. Can Kyle Busch join his RCR teammate Austin Hill as a winner today?
