Kyle Busch Motorsports sues Rev Racing for unpaid balance of $325K from 2023

In a strange turn of events, Kyle Busch Motorsports, which is no longer in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is suing Rev Racing. The dispute is over unpaid fees in regards to their alliance in the series in 2023.

This year, Spire Motorsports is providing the trucks for Rev Racing, who is fielding Nick Sanchez in the series. However, a year ago, it was Kyle Busch Motorsports who provided them with the trucks they raced in.

That agreement stated that KBM would be paid $2.9 million for the season. However, according to the lawsuit in a report from Charlotte Business Journal, there is an unpaid balance of $325K.

The situation is very strange. Kyle Busch is going to be racing in a Spire Motorsports truck this weekend. So, he will be a teammate, more or less, of Nick Sanchez in the Rev Racing truck. How will those two work together, and will Rowdy give Sanchez room if he races with him this weekend?

Even though KBM as a Truck Series team sold off their assets to Spire, it still exists as an organization. KBM is now just a small operation that fields Brexton Busch and Kyle Busch in dirt races and other events.

Rev Racing is the on-track extension of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program. Max Siegel who runs the program has not commented on the lawsuit at this time.

Kyle Busch Motorsports gone but not forgotten

This year, Spire Motorsports is essentially the new KBM. They have the trucks, they have Chase Purdy and Nick Sanchez, added Rajah Caruth. So, the old team is gone, but the legacy still lives on.

Kyle Busch himself is going to race his five allotted Truck Series races with Spire. With 64 career wins, Busch is the winningest driver ever in the series. He has plans to add more wins this season with Spire.

The plan for Spire is simple, don’t mess up what Rowdy and his group built. This is a championship contender, both Caruth and Purdy should make playoff runs this season. If they aren’t able to keep up the pace, then there will need to be some tough questions asked of the organization.

Early on in the season, Spire looks solid though. Nick Sanchez won the Daytona opener, Rajah Caruth was P3. Unfortunately, Chase Purdy was a DNF. This week at Atlanta is a whole new opportunity.
