Kyle Busch prepared to race for a win this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway
Ahead of the Texas playoff race, Kyle Busch wants to put the No. 8 Chevy back in victory lane, even though he wasn’t driving it last time. Tyler Reddick pulled off a somewhat surprising win at Texas a year ago in the NASCAR Playoffs. Now Busch will try to follow it up.
Kyle Busch has three wins on the year but he has had to wait a while since the last one. Gateway was the final time that the No. 8 team really fired off well. In the last six weeks, mechanical issues, bad setups, and a crew swap have all caused chaos for the 8 team.
Texas is a place that Busch has won at four different times. If he can get back to his old ways in the Lone Star State, he’s going to have a path to the Round of 8.
“Yeah, I mean, to us, I feel like the mile-and-a-half stuff has kind of been a little bit more of our strong suit than the short track stuff,” Busch told WSFA Channel 12. “So I think that kind of bodes well for us. The eight-car won there last year with Tyler Reddick. So I feel like that’s kind of a bonus.”
“You know, there were a lot of tire failures, a lot of guys that had issues, and all that stuff that was going on in that race. It was a bit of an ugly race. But you know, the eight car ended up out on top, so hopefully, we can take some of that stuff that they had last year and work towards a comfortable driving car for me and a good feeling to where, you know, we’ll have a fast 3 CHI, Chevy, this weekend.”

Kyle Busch above the cutline
Right now, Kyle Busch can give a bit of a sigh of relief. He comes into the Round of 12 above the cutline in sixth place overall. He’s just five points above the line, though. So, he will have to perform well or find himself out of the playoffs early.
I think that Texas is a good chance for Busch to make it to the next round with a win. Talladega is where he won his second race of the season as the leaders Ryan Blaney and Bubba Wallace wrecked out of the event.
While I think he can perform well in the first two races of this round, I think he could get in trouble. Entering the Roval, Busch needs a 20+ point bubble in my opinion to be comfortable. A win and it wipes it all away.
Based on how spread out the wins have been this season, Kyle Busch is due for one. At 12-1 odds, is this his time?
