Older brother Kurt is retired now and Kyle Busch took the time to tell his big bro that he’s proud of him and all he has accomplished. It has truly been a hall-of-fame NASCAR career for Kurt and Rowdy isn’t too far behind him. We’ll never get confused about which Busch is which on the track.

Kurt Busch had been working for more than a year to return to racing and NASCAR’s top series. However, it has become apparent that he cannot continue and even if he can return to racing, he’ll never be able to go Cup Series racing again.

Kyle Busch wrote a heartfelt tweet for Kurt. The winningest brothers in NASCAR history.

From the 2004 Cup Series championship to his Coca-Cola 600 win at Charlotte, the 2017 Daytona 500, and has won with four different manufacturers – we could list Kurt’s accolades all day.

In his farewell press conference at Daytona, Kurt Busch noted that he wanted to get into the “30-30 Club.” Most will note that is usually a stat referred to in baseball. Kurt wasn’t talking home runs and stolen bases, he was talking wins and poles. Busch will end his career with 34 wins and 28 pole awards.

While Kurt’s career ended prematurely, he accomplished more than most could imagine. When his time comes to be nominated for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, it will be an easy decision. So, does this give Kyle more motivation to win the championship this season?

Kurt Busch officially retires from NASCAR Cup Series

NASCAR fans are unique in that they can hate a driver for years and then once their career is over, have good, nostalgic feelings for them. Kurt Busch was a driver that never stayed put for too long. That was for a variety of reasons. However, he was never boring on the track.

If Busch had a fast car, he was going to make things interesting. He was going to race with his door into the side of the other car and drag both of them to the line.

“So after 23 years behind the wheel, and 45 years of living and breathing this dream, I’m officially announcing my retirement from NASCAR Cup Series competition,” Busch said in his retirement video. “To the fans, to my sponsors, to my family, and to the million moments that made my dream come true, thank you, and may we all remember dreams really can come true.”
