To start the New Year, Kyle Busch and his family were in Tulsa racing on dirt. His son, Brexton, has started to earn a reputation. Of course, it’s a good reputation. The son of the two-time NASCAR champion is slowly building a brand of his own.

With the 2024 Tulsa Shootout behind them, it is all eyes on the NASCAR season. Kyle Busch will be lining up for the Daytona 500 soon. It is a race that has evaded him for years and one he hopes to check off his bucket list soon.

However, a couple of weeks ago, Busch was just another racing dad. Well, he was also competing, but he was mainly there for Brexton.

“There’s a lot of people, who see me as a superstar. I’d see me as a normal ‘Joe’ just here wanting to have fun with my kid,” Kyle Busch said, via Channel 6 in Tulsa. “Everybody is respectful. They come up and say, ‘Hey, what’s going on?’ They want to hear a little bit about your story, a little bit about what you did through the year, then it’s on to business from there.”

As for Brexton, it was all about winning at his favorite race of the year.

“The Golden Driller. I just want one of those,” the young racer said. “It’s like all the kids from California, all over the world, I like that.”

With the rise of dirt racers in the NASCAR ranks, it is clear that Busch sees value in this style of racing. It will only help Brexton develop his car control and other skills when he moves up to stock cars a few years from now.

Kyle Busch getting ready for Daytona 500

On lap 200 of the 2023 Daytona 500 it was Kyle Busch who was in the lead. However, it would go into overtime and Busch would ultimately lose out on the Harley J. Earl trophy. This season, Busch is hoping that things go a little differently.

A hot start to the 2023 season showed that Bushc and Richard Childress Racing were a great match. The No. 8 car was runner-up at the Busch Light Clash, he won the second race of the year at Auto Club Speedway – he looked like one of the best drivers in the Cup Series.

As the season went on, things fell apart for Busch and his team. Mechanical issues, pit road miscues, and just plain bad luck all derailed what looked to be a championship-caliber season at one point.

With an offseason reset and a new season ahead of him, Kyle Busch will try to win the crown jewel race to start the season.
