Today things are already going south for Kyle Busch. Rowdy is reporting steering issues with his car during practice at Pocono. This No. 8 team needs a good run today and so far the NASCAR weekend is not looking great.

Kyle Busch was running his car around the track in practice. He was mid-pack and didn’t put up any impressive times. The main reason, he had steering issues. Those issues plagued him and despite his team trying to correct it, he couldn’t put up fast times.

This could be another long weekend for Busch and this RCR team.

In the last six races, Kyle Busch has four DNFs and just one top-10 finish. That is not the kind of record Busch wants or any driver for that matter. It is the worst stretch in his career during the worst season ever in his career.

Winning the pole and finishing P4 at Dover, finishing P3 in the three-wide finish at Atlanta – those are the highlights of the 2024 season for Busch. That’s great if you’re a rookie in the series, not a two-time champion who has won at least one race every year since you were a rookie.

There is a silver lining. Pocono is a huge track, it’s a long race, it is a strategy race. So, ideally, even if Busch doesn’t qualify well today, he could drive through the field. In 2018, Busch drove from P28 to the win. He has four checkered flags in the Cup Series at the Tricky Triangle.

Kyle Busch, RCR looking for answers

Right now, Richard Childress Racing and Kyle Busch are desperate for answers. Austin Dillon isn’t running well, and Busch can’t find speed. There is a lot going on with this team and almost all of it is bad.

Busch is a champion, one of the greatest to ever compete in NASCAR. So, what is going on with him this year? It feels like a lot of the problems relate back to RCR and the organization itself.

The cars are not fast. Busch is a talent that can take a car that isn’t perfect and get the most out of it. Right now, he isn’t able to get anything out of the cars that his team brings to the track, even after adjustments.

Kyle Busch is having problems in practice. I don’t expect that to change much between now and Sunday. Then again, with all of his success at Pocono, maybe Busch could make it happen after all. What do you think?
