Kyle Busch has raced for some legendary organizations, and he’s doing so once again during his first year at Richard Childress Racing.

Of course, Childress has employed some of the biggest names in NASCAR in the past, from Dale Earnhardt to Kevin Harvick. With Busch taking his talents there after beginning his career at Hendrick Motorsports and ascending into the history books with Joe Gibbs Racing, Richard Childress Racing had a lot to live up to.

Evidently, it’s done so and more, and Busch’s three wins don’t lie. During an exclusive interview with FOX, Busch elaborated on what’s been the biggest difference between RCR and his previous stops.

“The culture, obviously. They have a strong racing culture. They’ve got a strong racer’s racer demeanor. And I really enjoy that,” explained Busch. “I like that a lot about the place. I wouldn’t say their engineering background or their engineering department is as in-depth as some other teams that I’ve been with before, but they get the job done.

“They build nice, clean stuff. They know what they’re doing — nutting and bolting is half the project, knowing where you’ve got to put the nuts and bolts is about the other half of the project, which is engineering. But I feel like we’ve had a fair shake at it so far. And we’re going to continue to work on it and make it better yet.”

As we’ve seen with Kyle Busch, he can be an acquired taste. However, it seems like Richard Childress Racing was the perfect fit, and the future is brighter than ever for the No. 8 wheelman.

Kyle Busch says Richard Childress is hands-on with hiring

Of course, Richard Childress was involved in the hiring of Kyle Busch. What about the rest of the shop, though? Well, according to Busch, Childress gets hands-on with the hiring process. He “has a pulse” on the goings on as far as his shop employees are concerned. The owner wants the best of the best in his shop.

“He does, actually,” Busch said about his boss when asked if he keeps up with the hirings. “He has his pulse on a few guys that are both inside NASCAR and outside NASCAR to just try to bring in and make the group stronger.”

While Busch doesn’t have a hand in things, he does approve of his boss and his decisions. As long as they keep bringing him fast Chevy Camaros, he will be fine with whoever is in the shop working on the cars.

“To the extent of how I know them, sure. But I don’t know them personally or anything like that. I just know where they’re coming from. And I feel like that could be a good pick.”

Kyle Busch and Richard Childress might be the next driver-owner duo to take NASCAR by storm.
