Kyle Busch says Denny Hamlin move 'is what it is'
The talk of NASCAR is still the Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson incident from Pocono. Kyle Busch gave his take on it this week. Ahead of the Cook Out 400 at Richmond, folks are still talking about the Pocono deal.
Drivers like Kyle Busch have been there and done that. Over the years, they have seen more moves for the win go wrong than go right. Bump and runs, slide jobs, and everything in between have happened to them and around them.
Talking to the media ahead of the Cook Out 400, Busch was honest. “It is what it is,” the driver said about the Denny Hamlin move. And he doesn’t think it is any more or less “dirty” than other moves that drivers make to win races.
In the time of NASCAR podcasts, why doesn’t Rowdy have his own show? I could listen to him talk about the history of being done dirty for a long time. He has stories about everyone and every scenario you can think of. Sitting in the press conference, Busch came up with multiple examples of being in a similar situation.
Kyle Busch has a strong record at Richmond Raceway. That was mostly done while he was with Joe Gibbs Racing. Now he is trying to carry that prowess over to Richard Childress Racing and come away with a good result.

Kyle Busch among the favorites for Richmond
This weekend’s Cook Out 400 could really shake up the playoff standings. While he might be out of it, there is a small chance that Busch can pull off the regular season championship. He just needs a win or two to close out the regular season and he will be right there.
The only bad news is that Richmond happens to be a track his competitors race well at, too. Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., and William Byron will all be strong this weekend. One of them will likely break through and find their way to victory lane.
This is a race that means more for those drivers on the bubble than these guys with multiple wins. However, drivers compete week in and out to get wins, not just to ride around and settle for good enough.
If these drivers are hitting on all cylinders, then we are going to be in store for a great race. Maybe this time, Kyle Busch will be the one doing the pushing with a couple of laps to go.
