Before the competition caution could come out at Lap 20, Kyle Busch found himself spinning out and hitting the wall. There wasn’t a lot of damage for the NASCAR driver, at least there didn’t appear to be, and Busch was able to drive off from the incident. But the damage was too much. It all began as he started to race hard against Ryan Blaney for track position.

It was a little bit of aero effect and a little bit of contact to help Kyle Busch out. Blaney didn’t do anything wrong, it was just NASCAR racing that got a little too intense for the moment.

While Busch drove away from the incident, it was too much damage for the No. 8 to deal with. So, he took the car to the garage and will finish 37th on the day. Another tough break for Rowdy.

For Kyle Busch, this will effectively put him out of contention for the regular season championship. He needed a strong race today to compete with Martin Truex Jr. Now, it appears Truex will extend his lead over Denny Hamlin and others in the points standings.

The thing is, Busch had speed. He was a top-10 car to start the day and just found himself on the wrong end of a hard racing incident. I’m sure that he will be fed up with the whole ordeal as he and his team move on to the Indy Road Course after this disappointing finish.

There are spots left up for the NASCAR Playoffs and more drivers than spots available. Perhaps Michigan will lock another driver into the postseason?

Kyle Busch faces another disappointment

Michigan is the latest disappointment for Kyle Busch. Since winning at Gateway, he has been very strong on the track. However, there have been hiccups in the last few weeks that have really shot his chances of a regular-season title down.

Since Gateway, Busch has had four top-5s and a top-10 finish. But P36 and P21 at New Hampshire and Pocono didn’t do him any favors. This 37th-place finish is definitely another disappointment.

Just when he thought he had a path to those bonus playoff points, Busch was spinning into the wall. Rowdy has a lot to be happy about this season, but it will never be enough.

Moving on from this will be important. Kyle Busch will try to finish the year strong and head into the playoffs with a head of steam. Two road courses and Daytona coming up, Busch will have his chances at finishing the regular season strong.
