Kyle Busch wins photo-finish Truck Series race over Stewart Friesen at Atlanta

Today was all about Kyle Busch in the NASCAR Truck Series race at Atlanta. After that performance, the Cup Series is on notice. For the second straight year, Busch gets the job done in the truck at Atlanta and he has his eyes on a Sunday win, too.
Kyle Busch has not had a Cup Series win in a long time. It can’t hurt to pick up a fantastic win on Saturday. On the other hand, heartbreak for Stewart Friesen. Both the 7 and 52 trucks got away from the pushers behind them and it came down to the side draft.
While there were times Busch controlled this race, it wasn’t an easy win in the end. Friesen really about had it. But at the line, Busch had him by a nose. Fantastic finish once again at the new Atlanta.
Connor Mosack started on the pole for this race. He ran many laps out front in that stage but was unable to win it. That win and the 10 points went to Jack Wood instead. In Stage 2, it was Kyle Busch who came out on top.
This race had one major caution, really. Rajah Caruth cut a tire and his truck snapped around on him in the front of the field. It caused a huge mess on the track that required a red flag and extensive cleanup.
During that red flag, as the trucks sat on the track, the jet dryers went by and blew the dust/kitty litter off the track and all over the trucks. Kyle Busch got a big blast of it through his right side window.

Kyle Busch puts on masterclass down the stretch
In those final 20 laps of the race, we saw vintage Kyle Busch behind the wheel. He was making moves confidently and remained patient. There was nothing going on in that race that surprised him and you could tell. He was simply fantastic.
Coming to one lap to go, Busch looked like he was going to have to settle for second. As the truck came out of the final turn, Busch was able to line up next to Friesen and go to work. Those side drafts are so fun to watch.
As the No. 7 truck grabbed the air off the side of the 52, it started to claw its way back to the lead. It felt like there wasn’t enough time left in the race, not enough pavement between Busch and the finish line.
In the end, Kyle Busch had another Kyle Busch performance. Stewart Friesen couldn’t do anything about it, and that is tough for that driver and team. But NASCAR is about racing the best of the best. Today, the best came out on top.
