During his heat race at the Tulsa Shootout in his Stock Non-Wing car, Kyle Busch wrecked hard, flipping over. Sprint car wrecks are scary. You can really hurt yourself flipping around, just like Alex Bowman did last year during the NASCAR season.

Kyle Busch was driving his 51X Lucas Oil car and with four laps to go, halfway through the heat race, Busch was wrecked. Battling for sixth place, Busch was sent tumbling as he made contact with the No. 49A of Ace Moore.

The Tulsa Shootout is a wild ride, folks. There are flips and wrecks all of the time. This time, Rowdy was on the wrong end of the incident. Safety crews worked fast and made sure Busch was okay before they flipped him back over.

While his car is done, Busch is doing alright.

Kyle Busch is entered in the Winged and Non-Winged classes. It appears his time in the Non-Winged division has come to an end. Busch has won a heat race in the past at the Tulsa Shootout, but that won’t be happening today.

Of course, it is a family affair for Busch this weekend. Heading into the New Year, the two-time Cup Series champion brought his son out to race as well.

There is a lot of talk about whether or not drivers in NASCAR’s Cup Series should do any kind of extra racing. Stock cars aren’t safe, no form of racing is “safe” but sprint cars do seem to have an extra level of danger to them.

Kyle Busch and Brexton taking on Tulsa

Ever since his son Brexton began racing seriously, Kyle Busch has been dipping his toe into all kinds of racing. Busch has never been a sprint car driver, but in the last few years, he’s shown that the stock car guys can race with some of the best.

Now, the above video is not the best example of that. Clearly. However, Busch has won sprint car races and seems to enjoy working on his race craft in the discipline.

As for Brexton, he might be able to tell his dad a couple of things when it comes to racing on the dirt. It is something the young Busch has been doing for most of his life (even if he is just 8 years old). Brexton is going to race in the Restricted A Class as well as Junior Sprints divisions.

While the weekend isn’t going how Kyle Busch had hoped, there is time to turn things around. If he can work on staying clean in the winged division, he might have a shot at advancing.
