There are no hard feelings between Kyle Larson and his spotter Tyler Monn after the duo got into a spat over the radio during the USA TODAY 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Last month, Monn, radioed to Larson after a run-on on the track with Denny Hamlin, “He runs you like that every time, you know why? Because you let it happen.” Larson didn’t appreciate those words from Monn, and promptly told him to silence himself, “Shut the f*** up,” he responded.
Afterward, there was a ton of debate as to whether friction would remain between Larson and Monn, but it’s evident the duo’s bond was strong enough to overcome the war of words between them.
“Tyler and I, we get along really well. We have, you know, a close enough relationship where we can talk to each other about it after and joke about it,” Larson told FOX’s Bob Pockrass. “So, we were laughing about New Hampshire, as I got into the car before we re-fired. We’re all good there.”
That goes to show that drivers can say stuff in the heat of the moment they don’t truly mean. While Larson wasn’t too enthused with Monn at the time in Loudon, the No. 5 wheelman made sure to nip the issue in the bud, and now the duo can move on from it.
Kyle Larson and Tyler Monn have enjoyed immense success together, and there’s no reason to believe that’ll change, as they’ve decided to move forward after their argument in New Hampshire, looking to bring the No. 5 back to Victory Lane multiple times throughout the summer together.
Kyle Larson on rivalry with Denny Hamlin: ‘I would just like a little bit of respect’
Alas, it’s no secret that Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson race each other hard. They are two fiery competitors who have their eyes set on winning on a weekly basis. They both happen to be two of the best drivers in the Cup Series, too.

While Larson wants to move on from their latest spat, he mostly wants respect on the track, not to become a fierce rival with Hamlin
“Where I’m at I think, you know, Nashville’s is really the first time that I’ve got to, you know, I feel like in my mind, show that I’m over it,” Larson said earlier this week, via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “Or like over the way that I’ve been raced. Now going forward I think I’m ready to move on, I’ve got zero issue at this point. I would like a little bit of respect on the race track and a little bit more room than maybe I’ve been given.
“Yeah, I think if we do that we can go back to racing fair and challenging each other fairly for wins. … I think that we are the two top teams in the sport right now so we’re going to be battling for a lot more wins together and all that throughout the races and all that. So, I’ve enjoyed racing him in the past, it’s just we’ve had a few run-ins. Like I said, I’m ready to just move on and go back to having fun racing each other. Nashville is what it is and like I said, ready to move on.”
Nothing’s guaranteed moving forward between Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin, and it’ll all boil down to how these two competitors race each other over the remainder of 2024.
