Kyle Larson returned to Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, where he reclaimed the track with a resounding victory in the Brickyard 400.

The former NASCAR Cup Series champion spent a lot of time on the track as part of his attempt at pulling The Double earlier this season, which Mother Nature thwarted, as Larson was unable to race in the Coca-Cola 600 later that evening.

The question remains though, could Larson attempt The Double again in 2025? Fans and media members have been clamoring for it, and after his Brickyard 400 victory, Larson touched on the subject.

“I don’t know. I don’t know. I mean, we’ve definitely been talking about it, and I think weighing, you know, what’s important, to everybody. So, it sounds good, I’ll say, so far, but things could change,” Larson told FOX’s Bob Pockrass, regarding The Double in 2025. “So, yeah, we’ll see. I would obviously love to do it. I think everybody knows, that I would love to do it, because in my mind, I did not get to do it this year. I didn’t get to, at least do The Double.

“So yeah, I hope that the pieces can fall into place, and we can hopefully get things put together, and announce something, and you know, get excited about doing The Double next year.”

That’s wonderful news for fans of both NASCAR and IndyCar. Larson’s attempt put a ton of extra eyeballs on the Indianapolis 500, and the rigors a driver has to go through to even qualify for the race, and Larson gained a ton of respect from his peers for even attempting the feat.

In the end though, the name of the game is success on the track, and if Larson is going to race, he’s racing to win. Pockrass asked him if winning the Brickyard 500 gives him a little more confidence in his chances in the Indianapolis 500, but Larson wouldn’t go that far.

“I don’t know. I mean, I hope so,” Larson responded, asked if his win on Sunday meant he can have good fortune in the Indianapolis 500. “Getting to live through that race this year, it’s obviously a very tough race. Very similar race, but very, you know, tough. Those Penske cars are stupid fast. Like, I don’t think, you know, Pato (O’Ward) did a great job to almost win, but it was gonna be virtually impossible, I felt like, for anybody beat Josef (Newgarden), but hopefully you know next year, with the hybrid stuff, you know, there’s more opportunity for more teams to be faster.

“I will say it’s pretty, pretty special, you know, and hopefully someday I get the chance to win the 500 because, you know, I’ve won on the dirt track at the BC39. I got to kiss the bricks there. And then now today, the 400. You know, I guess there’s one more to check off, and it would be the Indy 500, which could be pretty special.”

Of course, Kyle Larson isn’t expected to win the Indianapolis 500, but what a story that would be if he could get it done. Time will tell if he pulls The Double in 2025, but it seems as if everything is trending in the right direction at the moment.
