Today is a special day for Kyle Larson and all NASCAR fans. Of course, it is Jeff Gordon’s birthday today, the Rainbow Warrior is 53. From a young kid with a mustache and bad haircut to one of the greatest drivers of all time.

Kyle Larson and Jeff Gordon are just California boys at heart. There is a real connection those two have forged since joining forces in 2020. Speaking of, today is more than Gordon’s day of birth.

As Yung Money pointed out on his Twitter/X account, it is a special day for other reasons.

It was August 4, 2007, when Larson scored his first sprint car victory. Then, on the same day in 2020, he signed with Hendrick Motorsports. The most important part, according to Larson, that day in 1971.

Recently, in the 30th anniversary of the inaugural Brickyard 400 and Jeff Gordon’s victory there, Kyle Larson picked up his first Brickyard win. Another Crown Jewel for the talented race car driver. All he needs now is a win in the Daytona 500.

Despite the two-week break during the Olympics, Larson ended his vacation a little early to get some racing in.

Kyle Larson sweeps World of Outlaws at I-55

Before heading back to his day job in the NASCAR Cup Series, Kyle Larson mixed it up with the Outlaws at I-55 Speedway. Larson not only won the 30-lap feature on Friday night, he followed it up with his third Ironman victory in as many attempts.

Kyle Larson has won the 55-lap I-55 Ironman race three times now, 2020, 2023, and 2024. He tires Craig Dollansky for most wins all-time in the grueling Sprint Car race. In total at I-55, Larson has five career wins in seven starts. That’s pretty good I reckon.

While the Hendrick Motorsports driver didn’t have to come back from P21 in the weekend finale, he had to pass some cars. Larson qualified P12 for the event and by Lap 44, he was passing Giovanni Scelzi for the lead, and he never looked back.

Between the two races, Larson passed 31 cars and took home $37,000 for 85 laps of work. Not a bad weekend at the track.
