The Spire Motorsports No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado just gained a bit more prestige as the race team announced Tuesday that Kyle Larson and William Byron will pilot the truck in select NASCAR Truck Series races this season.

Larson, the 2021 Cup Series champion, will compete in the Baptist Health 200 at Homestead-Miami on March 21 and the Weather Guard Truck Race at Bristol on April 11. Byron will handle the driving duties in the March 28 NCTS Race at Martinsville.

“One of the coolest things of having a CRAFTSMAN Truck Series team is to have the crossover from Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Automotive Group,” Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson said in a press release. “We’ve had all their drivers in our trucks from time to time, and to have two guys in William and Kyle, who have won races with us back in the seat certainly gives the team a little more pep in our step. It also raises the bar for those races to win or bust. You don’t show up with those guys to do anything else but win.”

Spire adds Kyle Larson, William Byron to star-studded Truck Series schedule

Spire already has Kyle Busch aboard for five Truck Series races this season. Busch, who took the checkered flag in the No. 7 truck at Alanta, will pilot the No. 07 in three races throughout the summer.

Larson has 15 Truck Series starts under his belt, tallying three victories and 11 top 10s. He’s compiled a pair of top 5 finishes in three starts at Homestead-Miami. Larson finished 35th in his lone start at Bristol, which came in 2021 under the dirt layout.

“I love racing at Homestead-Miami and Bristol, so I’m excited to add those Truck races to my schedule,” Larson said. “Hopefully, we can put on a great show with HendrickCars.com on board and battle for the victories in the Spire truck.”

Byron’s Truck Series career is impressive with eight wins and 19 top 10s in 29 starts. The last time he ran a truck at Martinsville — spring 2022 — he went to Victory Lane.

“I’m excited to get back to the Truck Series,” Byron said. “It’s been a couple years for me so I’m ready to try it again. Plus, the last time I ran a truck at Martinsville we won. Hopefully, we can do that again because it really paid off for us on the Cup side of things. Spire is a great group, and I’m excited to work with them again.”
