In a tough week for the entire Hendrick Motorsports organization, Kyle Larson dominates the Xfinity Series field at Bristol. He was as fantastic as he was at Homestead-Miami, but no late caution would come out and steal this one from the NASCAR champion.

On Thursday night, it was announced that Jon Edwards had passed away at the age of 53. He had served as Jeff Gordon’s PR rep for many years. Edwards returned to Hendrick in 2021 to work with Kyle Larson and help revive his career.

An emotional week and a dominating performance. Two races down, one win in his pocket, and one more race to go. He was asked what it meant to win this race for his friend, Jon.

“Damn good, for sure. It’s awesome,” Larson said on the frontstretch after the win. “I wish I could have won last night, but just came up a little short. Cool to get a win this weekend for Jon and everybody who’s been a part of his life.”

Before a Sheldon Creed and Brennan Poole wreck in Stage 1, Kyle Larson had lapped all but the top-13 drivers. He was piloting a rocketship. Short of a chaotic race full of cautions, Larson wasn’t going to be beaten today.

JR Motorsports remains insanely fast. Carson Kvapil was P2. Justin Allgaier was P3 and won the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash. Sammy Smith was P4, and Connor Zilisch finished P12 but ran up in the front most of the race before getting rear-ended by William Sawalich. Strong result from that entire Hendrick/JRM group.

Kyle Larson doing Kyle Larson things

When it comes to the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Kyle Larson has looked like vintage Kyle Busch out there lately. It’s a wonder that he is “struggling” more in the Truck Series, to be honest. While he has been fast in both series this season, he has had to earn it more in the trucks.

Maybe it is because the races are shorter. I’m not sure. But at Homestead-Miami, Larson lucked into the win in the Truck Series after Corey Heim lost power. This week, he was never really in the lead and finished P2.

Meanwhile, between Homestead and Bristol, Larson has led 399 laps in the Xfinity Series. Two races. That is the most in the series this season. Before today, Allgaier had led 325 laps in eight races.

Put Kyle Larson in that No. 17 car and it is going to be difficult to beat him. Beyond difficult. Lucky for the Xfinity Series field, today should be his final race in the series for 2025.
