After qualifying for the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Sonoma Raceway, Kyle Larson is the pole award winner and on track to sweep the weekend. After practice on Friday, it felt like Larson was going to run away with the pole award, and he did.

Kyle Larson was the best in Group B and carried that 1:18 speed over to the final qualifying round. Sonoma Raceway is a track that Larson has had success at before. He won the Cup Series race in 2021 at the track.

With the double-duty schedule on deck this weekend, Larson has checked off the first box on the way to the weekend sweep.

There are a number of Cup Series drivers pulling off the double this weekend. There is going to be a ton of talent in that race. However, you can put all the talent in the world on that track, they aren’t going to catch Kyle Larson if he keeps running laps like he did in qualifying.

The California native is going to try to win this DoorDash 250 from the pole. With Cup qualifying later today, Larson could be set up for a HUGE weekend.

Kyle Larson is one to watch this weekend

Ahead of the NASCAR weekend, it was obvious who would be in the mix. Kyle Larson is just on another level when it comes to road-course racing in the Xfinity Series. It doesn’t hurt that his No. 17 Chevy is a monster as well.

Combine Larson with the best car in the field and he’s going to wheel and deal that thing to the pole, and likely the race win. There won’t be any stage breaks, as NASCAR has done away with them for just road course races this season. So, he could get out front and just lead this race from the get-go.

There will be some other driver in the mix, at least in the Xfinity Series race, but it will be very hard to take down Larson. When he’s hitting on all cylinders like he is so far, he is the best driver in the world.

Kyle Larson will lead the DoorDash 250 from the pole tonight at 8:00 PM EST on FS1. Can he earn his second Xfinity Series win of the year?
