Kyle Petty lays down blistering hot take on Carson Hocevar after Atlanta controversy

Kyle Petty shared some interesting thoughts on Carson Hocevar and his conversation with Ross Chastain after the Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. While appearing on the Performance Racing Network (PRN). Petty said Hoecvear had every right to drive aggressively because that’s what he’s seen from the veteran drivers.
“This is my take on all of this, I think Ross approached Carson Hocevar the way he would have liked to have been approached all those years,” Petty said. Just let’s talk it out, let’s don’t scream at me. Let me explain my position and you explain yours. Do I hear what I want to hear? No, we heard that. But I’m going to say this, we have Hocevar… Ty Gibbs did it yesterday trying to put a car where there wasn’t a hole.
“…These young drivers have so much freaking talent. But they’ve grown up watching Joey Logano do it, they’ve grown up watching Ross Chastain do it. So they’re taking it to another level. They’re moving that yardstick. Any time you get somebody who shows up at the sharp end of the stick at the front of the pack who’s not used to running up there and who’s not been there, the established names are going to scream, they’re going to cry, they’re going to whine.
Kyle Petty doesn’t have a problem with what Carson Hocevar did at Atlanta
“… I took that as much as anything else from [Ryan] Blaney and from Ross. He had just as much right to get in there and force the issue and make something happen. If not for the caution, he’s a race winner.”

Chastain spoke to Carson Hocevar about his aggressive driving during the Atlanta race. While Hocevar’s style didn’t sit well with Chastain and Blaney, Hocevar earned a second-place finish and came close to winning his first Cup Series race.
“We’re here to win races, not be a boy band and love each other and play on the playground together,” Hocevar said after the race. “So obviously, there’s learning lessons. You don’t want to piss anybody off or frustrate anybody, and there’s things I would clean up for sure. But it’s just going to come with learning…
“Again, I’m normally 40th, waiting for them to crash and hoping they crash, and I finish in the teens. So, to be up front and get stage points in both stages and have a shot to win is something to hold my (head) high.”
