Kyle Busch is a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and is no stranger to pressure packed moments on the racetrack. But nothing gives him “more stress and more butterflies” than watching his son Brexton compete.

Those stress levels were at an all-time high Saturday night as Brexton picked up the biggest win of his racing career. Brexton took the checkered flag in the Junior Sprint A-Main at the 2025 Tulsa Shootout, capturing his first Golden Driller trophy. The 9-year-old started first in the 20-lap race and led the entire way.

Busch and his wife Samantha celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in Tulsa, and were thrilled watching their son win the coveted Golden Driller.

“I think this is more stress and more butterflies on me here for him, than it is for the Daytona 500,” Busch told FloRacing. “This is just such a huge deal and means so much to our family and what we do. It’s what we pour our lives into and how we take away from our anniversary week and we spend it in Tulsa every year now. This is worth it. The Driller is worth it. Just can’t be prouder of the boy and everything he’s done.”

Samantha added: “I was crying, I’m so proud. He’s worked at this, he was so upset last year. Literally every race he went to this year, he was like, ‘I’m doing it for Tulsa. I’m doing it for the Driller.’ And he did it. He’s so happy.”

Brexton never faced lapped traffic, a big help in his victory.

“Yeah, I was lucky to not get to lap traffic,” he said. “I was worried about that. It was awesome to win. I thought I gave it away on Lap 14 when I hit the berm and I’m glad I didn’t.”

Owen Larson, the 10-year-old son of Kyle Larson, also competed in the race. He started fourth and finished sixth. Both sons of Cup champions have bright futures in motorsports.

“That was awesome,” Brexton said. “I’m so glad to be here and win. I’ve been watching all the races from last year to get ready for this year. I won all the races this week to get here. It’s awesome to win this race.”
