Kyler Murray reacts to CeeDee Lamb signing historic contract with Dallas Cowboys
Kyler Murray just sent a message to CeeDee Lamb, who signed a historic contract with the Dallas Cowboys. The Arizona Cardinals quarterback went to X to share ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s report and a photo of him and Lamb while they played for the Oklahoma Sooners. In the caption, Murray wrote, “Thuggerrrr! Much deserved.”
Schefter reported that Lamb agreed to a four-year, $136 million contract with the Cowboys. The deal includes a $38 million signing bonus, the largest ever given to a wide receiver. Lamb will also receive $100 million guaranteed.
Lamb’s new contract comes after the Cowboys finished their preseason and training camp. He could be fined more than $3 million for missing camp, but the team has the ability to rescind the penalty since he was on his rookie contract, according to ESPN.
In July, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talked about getting a deal done with Lamb since he has a great relationship with quarterback Dak Prescott. “What’s exciting is how hard they worked this summer together. They spent a lot of time… Consequently, I’m not at all worried about missing a few practices here at the start of the year,” Jones said. “We’re six months away from getting in a spot to play in that Green Bay game, so we got a lot of time left. But they’ve done a lot of work together.

Kyler Murray talks about his ‘great relationship’ with CeeDee Lamb
If Lamb and the Cowboys didn’t get a deal done, would he have signed with the Cardinals and be reunited with Murray? When speaking to the Arizona Republic back in 2020, Murray talked about Lamb possibly being drafted by the Cardinals.
“Me and CeeDee have a great relationship,” he said, per CBS Sports. “That’s one of my boys. I would obviously be very fond of that pick. Obviously, I don’t make the choices. I’m here for whatever, but I’m looking forward to free agency and us adding some great players and adding more of them in the draft so we can continue to grow this thing. But yeah, if we pick CeeDee, that would be great. We have a very comfortable relationship.”
Lamb has been selected to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro Team three times in his four seasons with the Cowboys. At Oklahoma, the 25-year-old was named a consensus All-American in 2019.
