The Los Angeles Chargers are signing former Titans cornerback Kristian Fulton to a new one-year deal for the 2024 season this week, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Fulton became a free agent on March 13 when his rookie deal with the Titans expired. He played 41 games across four seasons for Tennessee but now he’s on the move to the West Coast. To sign with the Chargers, the fourth-year cornerback reportedly turned down offers from the Bengals, Browns and Cardinals.

Fulton, who turns 26 at the start of the 2024 NFL regular season, went No. 61 overall in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of LSU. The Titans scooped him up early after watching him win a national title with the Tigers as a senior.

In his rookie season, the former Tigers star played in six games, making 16 tackles with one sack and grabbing one interception. His first career interception came in a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fulton’s 2023 season ended early with a trip to IR after he suffered a hamstring injury. He played in 11 games, racking up 46 tackles. It was his first season without an interception for the Titans.

When Fulton arrived in Nashville to play for the Titans, he chose the No. 26 jersey. He told reporters it would serve as a reminder that there were eight cornerbacks selected before him in the draft.

“It just reminds me every day that I had eight corners selected before me,” Fulton told the Official Titans Podcast. Two plus six equals eight, “So, if you add it up, it’s a reminder for me every day.”

During his three-year career at LSU, Fulton played in 28 games with 25 starts and totaled 65 tackles, two tackles for loss, 25 passes defensed, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

The NFL 2024 calendar year begins at 4 p.m. ET on March 13. At that time, contracts running through 2023 officially run out, making those players free agents. Prior to the beginning of free agency, teams will have a chance to designate one franchise or transition tag player, starting on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. ET and ending on March 5. Beginning March 11 through March 13 teams can enter into a legal negotiation with players who will become unrestricted free agents.

In addition to NFL free agency, the new year also marks the beginning of all trades being made official by the league office. April 19 marks the deadline to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets. On April 24, the deadline for teams to match restricted free agent offers sheets hits. Following the restricted free agent deadline follows the 2024 NFL Draft, which runs from April 25-27.
