Lamar Jackson passes Michael Vick to become all-time NFL leader in QB rushing yards
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made NFL history during the Christmas Day game against the Houston Texans, becoming the NFL’s all-time leader in QB rushing yards (6,110). He passed Michael Vick who finished with 6,109 yards in 143 career games.
Lamar Jackson reached the mark in just 102 games and could have over 10,000 career rushing yards if he stays healthy. The former Louisville Cardinals star also holds the record for most rushing yards for a QB in a season with 1,206 which he set in 2019.
Jackson finished the day with 87 rushing yards and one touchdown on four carries to help the Ravens defeat the Texans 31-2. He currently has 852 rushing yards this season, the most since 2020 when he rushed for 1,005.
Jackson, who also threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns on Wednesday, continues to make his case to win the MVP award for the third time in his career. Before the game, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Jackson should be MVP once the season ends.

Will Lamar Jackson win his third MVP award?
“I think Lamar is playing some of the best football he’s played,” Ryans told reporters, per Sports Illustrated. “Like he definitely jumps off the tape as the best player I’ve seen this year. You talk about MVP, he’s definitely the MVP in my mind just for what he’s doing not only in the run game, but also throwing the football. The accuracy, the decision-making like he’s playing unbelievable ball right now, so it’s going to be a really tough challenge for us this week.”
Ryans added: “The main thing when you’re playing against Lamar is everyone has to be disciplined. Understand and have elite awareness of what he’s capable of and I think everyone knows that by now. He can run it, whatever he wants to do. He can buy time and throw the ball downfield, throw the deep passes. It’s a matter of just working together as a defense. Not only D-line, but linebackers, secondary. It’s everyone just working together. Being disciplined in our coverages, being disciplined in our rushes. Everyone just being dialed in.”
