Las Vegas odds for DeAndre Hopkins next team revealed
The Las Vegas oddsmakers never rest on a good opportunity. Odds are now out for the teams that could land wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in free agency following his release from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals worked hard to find a trade partner for Hopkins but ultimately couldn’t. Instead, they took a $22.6 dead cap hit to move on.
“To me, it didn’t seem like an outcome at all,” Rapoport said on the Pat McAfee Show. “They had trade talks all the way through to the draft, up until Wednesday night. Before the draft, I thought he was going to get traded. The contract… he obviously wasn’t going to get paid the $19.5 million… he was willing to take less, an incentive-laden deal…
“Von Miller has come on to talk about his recruitment to the Bills, Kansas City was a potential option there, Ravens perhaps, a lot of teams have been interested in the last couple of months. There was talk of the Cardinals eating money… at some point, they said, ‘We have tried everything to trade him, we cannot trade him.'”

Hopkins lists his wishes for next team
Even before the Cardinals released him, Hopkins was making his list of needs known to other teams.
“What I want is stable management upstairs. I think that’s something I haven’t really had the past couple years of my career coming from Houston and then to Arizona,” Hopkins said on the ‘I AM ATHLETE’ podcast. “I’ve been through three or four GMs in my career, so a stable management.
“[I want] a QB who loves the game, a QB who brings everybody on board with him and pushes not just himself but everybody around him. … and a great defense. A great defense wins championships.”
The 31-year-old had 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns in 2022. He’s surpassed 1,0000 receiving yards in six seasons so far in his career.

Injuries (and a suspension) have caused him to miss games over the last two years but the former first-round draft pick out of Clemson could still make an impact.
Cowboys players made offseason overtures
Earlier in the offseason, Hopkins sparked Cowboys trade rumors while he was working out in the Dallas area with former Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant.
The duo popped up on Bryant’s Instagram live stream and did nothing to quell the conversation around a potential trade.
“I keep hearing y’all say my name around here. What’s up? Talk to me,” Hopkins said.
After that, Micah Parsons kept the buzz going. He posted a message on Twitter for the five-time Pro Bowler.
“@DeAndreHopkins it’s about that time,” Parsons wrote.
After all the hubbub about Hopkins potentially getting a trade to Dallas, the Cowboys ended up trading for Brandin Cooks from the Texans in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick.
The one thing the Cowboys did not get in the 2023 NFL Draft was a high-round wide receiver. They nabbed Jalen Brooks out of South Carolina in the seventh round, but many thought they’d expend some early draft capital on a new weapon for Prescott. They ended up getting a tight end in the second round instead to help with the loss of Dalton Schultz.
