Royce West, lawyer for Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, revealed on Thursday at a press conference that his client was one of the drivers of two cars that were involved in a multi-car crash in Dallas on Saturday. Photos from the scene confirmed Rice’s involvement, however, it was unclear at the time of the accident who the drivers were. West spoke to reporters and noted that Rice intends to fully accept responsibility for the accident and ensure that those involved receive restitution.

“Mr. Rice wants to make certain that it’s understood and appreciated that he’s going to do everything in his power to make sure their life returns to as normal as possible in terms of injuries and in terms of property damages,” West said, via Calvin Watkins. “He’ll make certain that he’s responsible and that he helps them get through that particular part of this.

“Don’t get us wrong, we understand that no one can bring back or help them get over the memories of being in that accident.”

Rice was the driver of a Lamborghini that crashed, resulting in minor injury to four individuals on Saturday in Dallas. It’s unclear what type of punishment, if any, the NFL will impose on the second-year player following the incident. Though he would not specify which charges he’s expecting, Rice’s lawyer confirmed that they are expecting the Dallas County DA to file charges for the accident.
