LeBron James rocks his own Sports Illustrated cover on shirt
LeBron James might’ve pulled the ultimate power move while at the Peach Jam Tournament recently. The NBA and Lakers superstar showed up to the event wearing a T-shirt with his own Sports Illustrated cover on it.
Matt Norlander of CBS Sports shared an image of James from the Peach Jam Tournament sporting the unique shirt. The cover dates back to Feb. 18, 2002, with the title “The Chosen One.” It was James’ senior season of high school. He entered the NBA Draft in 2023.
We see athletes wear their own brands all the time. It’s their brand for a reason, right? But rarely do we catch them with a shirt sporting their own face. It seems like a power move from the superstar.
James has had a pretty good run in the NBA since that cover was released in 2002. He was selected No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2003 NBA Draft and has been the face of the league since.
In a career that has spanned across two decades, James has won four NBA titles — two with the Miami Heat, one with the Cavaliers and another with the Lakers. He’s a four-time Finals MVP and four-time NBA MVP.

Additionally, James has been selected to the NBA All-Star Game 19 times and owns the league’s all-time scoring record. Essentially, what we’re saying is he can wear whatever shirt he pleases.
LeBron James goes from player to coach
Would James have any interest in coaching once his playing career comes to an end? He got a taste of what that life might be like at the Peach Jam.
James coached his son, Bryce’s, team at the Peach Jam. And he might have a knack for it.
Bryce’s team, Strive for Greatness, trailed by 10 points to New Heights Lightning in the second half. The team was able to make a comeback and force overtime. Eventually, Strive for Greatness got the victory and James couldn’t contain his excitement.
Maybe James just wants to be able to spend more time with his children. Or, maybe he’s thinking about getting into coaching once his NBA career comes to an end.
Either way, it was a pretty cool moment from the Peach Jam Tournament.
