Legacy Motor Club announces Gearwrench as 2024 Cup Series sponsor
What’s that? Another major sponsorship addition for Legacy Motor Club? Yes, Gearwrench is joining The Club in 2024. This is another massive swipe from another NASCAR organization. AdventHealth was with Trackhouse last year, Gearwrench with Stewart-Haas – now both are safely with Legacy.
Looks like the big swap to Toyota has paid off in the short term. Sponsors are flooding into Legacy Motor Club to be part of what Jimmie Johnson and Maury Gallagher are building. Are we going to see this organization rise on the track as well in 2024?
While that remains to be seen, we do know that they are well-funded and ready to go.
What more could Legacy Motor Club do this offseason to prove that they are a completely new organization?
Don’t look now, but Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek might be a duo to watch out for. Jones has won the Southern 500 twice, and Nemechek is coming off of his journey to the Truck Series and back up the ranks.
Toyota is all-in, and that means sponsors are more than happy to jump in as well.
Legacy Motor Club setting big expectations
When it comes down to it, NASCAR and motorsports in general are about funding. Money runs the business and without it, you aren’t going racing. There are engineers to pay, shop workers, the people who wrap the cars, truck drivers, crew members, drivers, and more.

Legacy Motor Club is filling up on the sponsorship and that should (ideally) turn into better results. Last year, they were getting “tier-three” treatment from Chevrolet. Now, they are just one of three Toyota teams, and they aren’t a satellite team like 23XI Racing.
It seems so strange that this organization with Jimmie Johnson as co-owner, was left to flounder by GM. With the move to Toyota, adding Cal Wells III as CEO – the organization is doing things that not many expected.
Think about that Dollar Tree and Family Dollar deal. That likely came to fruition in part thanks to Matt Kenseth having a presence at Legacy and his prior relationship with Rick Dreiling, the former CEO at Dollar General.
Dreiling apparently loves to go racing. He was hired on in 2023 at Dollar Tree and now, they are in NASCAR with Legacy Motor Club.
